Where it all began

David Carpenter’s watchmaking career began after leaving Portsmouth University in 2006, when he was employed at Breitling UK. He started out in the Breitling Service Centre polishing room, where he learnt how to re-finish the most intricate & complex watch cases & bracelets. He spent a year in that department before being selected to attend the British School of Watchmaking in Manchester.

Studying at the British School of Watchmaking, David completed the 3000 hour W.O.S.T.E.P (Watches of Switzerland Training and Educational Program).

Climbing up the ranks

After completing the W.O.S.T.E.P program, David took on a watchmaking role at Breitling UK.  He spent five years gaining experience and working through the technical exams until he had achieved the highest possible level in the UK. In 2012, David was promoted to Workshop Manager, where he was responsible for the entire technical team consisting of over 40 members of staff.

A dream became a reality

Having always dreamt of running his own business, David launched DCIWS in 2015.  Since then it has grown from strength to strength and now boasts an attractive shop front in the historical high of East Grinstead. Also on site is the state of the art, modern workshop which has received professional certification from several luxury brands.
